The building at 1300 Granville has been a Vancouver landmark since 1889, built at the foot of what would become the Granville Bridge for workers from the Canadian Pacific Railway yards in Yaletown. For most of the twentieth century it ran as the Yale Hotel, earning its reputation as one of the city's great live music rooms before closing in 2011.
MRG Group brought it back in 2015 as The Yale Saloon, and this corner of the Granville Entertainment District has not been the same since. We are now the only country bar in Vancouver open four nights a week, and we have made it our job to make every single one of those nights worth showing up for.
Whether you have been two-stepping your whole life or you are lacing up for the first time, you belong here. Come as you are. Pull up a stool, grab a Yale Pail, and let the night take care of the rest.
Good to Know
There is a cover charge at the door if you have not purchased a ticket in advance. Our full kitchen is open from 8PM until 1AM with plenty of food options throughout the night. Check the menu for everything we are serving.
Activities
Line Dancing
Free every night we are open, running from 8 to 10PM. We bring in different instructors each night so you are always learning new styles and new dances. We recommend showing up at 8 to start with the basics. As the night goes on the routines get more complex, so starting early gives you a head start. No experience needed, no partner required.
Mechanical Bull
The bull is free to ride. Just fill out a waiver at the bar and step up. If you want to compete for the cash prize, give the bull rider your full name, email, and phone number. Competitions are judged on longest ride time, one hand on the rope. The prize is guaranteed every week: $100 every Thursday, $200 every Sunday. No excuses.
Pool Table
We have one pool table and it runs all night long. $2 a game. Challenge your mates between rounds on the dance floor, or make it your whole night. Either way, the drinks are cold and the competition is friendly.
Yale Pails
The Yale Pail is a Vancouver country bar institution. A full sand pail filled with mixed hard alcohol, made to share with your group. One size. No upgrades needed. There is no better way to kick off your night at The Yale than with a round of pails on the table.
Live DJ
Our resident DJs are on every night we are open, spinning from the time we open to the time we close. Classic country, new country, country-pop, line dance classics. If it is country, it is on the playlist. The music never stops and neither does the floor.
Photo Booth
Free with entry. Western-themed props, no cover charge, no catch. Grab your crew and get in there. All photos are digital and get sent straight to your phone via email or text so you walk out the door with something to remember the night by.
Punching Bag Machines
Two machines, $5 for 5 punches. See how you stack up against your friends. Great between dances, great after a few Yale Pails. No competitions, just a good time and a chance to find out who hits the hardest in your group.
